Well, we left Wellington as I had come to remember it, raining and cold. A rather uneventful journey back up north, except to mention the engine of the bus overheated and melted the gearbocx. Luckily a random chap in another bus turned up and gave us all a lift into town.
And so another seven or eight days in Taupo. Half of them doing very little and half doing the following (not in any particular order):
Laundry.
Visiting the Honey Hive, sampling free moisturisers and purchasing a jar of Beenut Butter... A jar will be on its way home at some point so everyone can sample it with me.
Spending the best part of a day on a prawn farm fishing for the b*****s. Between five of us we managed to catch 23. Made for a nice pasta dinner when cooked with some mussels though.
Wanding around the Craters of the Moon geo-thermal park. Yes, more holes in the ground, sulpherous gasses and boiling mud.
Having another look at the Huka Falls. Still wet and blue.
Watching my chums jump out of airplanes. Sadly not enough money at the time to do another jump. Sace it till Oz me thinks...
Walking the Tongariro crossing, or as most people have seen it, Mordor! Wicked views, craters, sulphur lakes, snowball fights and more eggy gas (not just me).
Read a copy of the Beach, maybe adding Thailand to my list of travel destinations...
And lost yet another round of mini golf.
Finally boredom hit home and I rented a car. So the next blog will be from somewhere on the East Cape. Maybe....
