Hi all, After suffering long journey from Cape Town (nearly 2 days due to our flignt connections), we finally arrived to Kathmandu. We fell in love with this city right away as it filled with beautiful hand crafts shops, temples, stupas, and monastary, wood carving doors and buildings, and Rickshaws, mortorcycles, taxi going thru narrow steets. More surprisingly, streets are pretty clean and exhaust from cars aren't so bad as you would consider this country is the 2nd poorest country in the world, next to Ethiopia (according to local mountain guide). We have been enjoying incredible food here - local Nepalese and Newari as well as practically every other asian culture. We start our first big trek tomorrow morning on a portion of the Annapurna Circuit. We will hike for about 13 days thru the best part of this region and then take a short flight to Pokhara which is another beautiful town we may have to explore for a couple of days. Then we'll see how we feel and think about the Everest Base Camp Trek next. We get some pics uploaded when we return from this ~13 day trek. Talk to you then. Drew & Emi
