Hey All, After a 12-hour bus ride from Bangkok, we arrived in Cambodia (Siem Reap, the city where Angkor Wat is). The first 4 hours weren't bad on a double-decker bus thru Thailand, but once we crossed the border it changed in many ways. The road deteriorated quickly to a bumpy dirt path with some pathetic bridges thru the marshlands. Cambodia's tumultuous and oppressive past is evident everywhere - poor roads, poor people, many scams and many amputees (from all of the land mines). Angkor Wat is considered one of the greatest monuments in the world, rivaling the Great Pyramids, so we are really looking forward to the next 3-4 days of temple viewing - they are huge. Then we plan to take a boat down to Phnom Peng before flying back to Bangkok. It looks like we'll be spending X-mas on a beach in southern Thailand. Take care everyone. Drew & Emi
