Hi from Peterborough. The cover picture is Chris doing the washing in the middle of nowhere. We came across this clothesline on the side of the road quite a hoot.
We are freedom camping outside Peterborough this little town which is rather quaint. All we have done since being here is go to a Steam Train Museum where we went in one of the carriages from the famous Ghan Train. This carriage was taken out of service on the 1980's but even seemed very small back in those day's I don't think I would have liked the very small rooms. It even had Axminster carpet on the floors. I'm sure it is much more luxurious these days.
We spent three nights in Broken Hill two freedom camping then last night at a caravan park in order to get some washing done. Yesterday we went to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum it was fantastic. They have a room with live displays of what it was like back in the day. Then we saw a film and had a tour of the actual base. Broken hill was where it actually started but they now have 22 bases over Australia. They have 50 planes at a cost of about 8 million each and fly over 2 million kms a year. When we got there the lady said the next tour is at 2 o'clock I said oh 5 mins away. She said no 35 mins. It turned out that we should have been on South Australia time which is half an hour more so 2 1/2 hours different. When we went for our walk the night before I said to Chris gosh it's light then then when I was waiting for the news to come on tele I said oh they must be running late. Silly us!!!!!
Broken Hill's street names are different a lot of them follow a mining theme. Bromide,Oxide,Chloride,Sulphide etc.
There are lots of wild goats and farmed goats around the area apparently the farmers started with them when the big drought was on otherwise they may not have survived. Apparently a lot of them go to Sydney for some of the restaurants.
We got stopped at a Quarantine Station today they came on board and checked out the fridge to see what we had. We had eaten our fruit and only had potatoes and broccoli which was ok.
There were a lot of dead kangaroos on the road today some of them were huge you wouldn't want to be hitting them. We also saw quite a few emu as well.
So for the next while when you think about us we will be 2 1/2 hours behind in time instead of 2. Cheers.
