Have had a great day here today we went to Silverton which is about 25kms from Broken Hill and has 39 dips in the road to get there. There are signs when each one comes up. First we went to a gallery which had paintings and jewellery and glassware some of it was amazing. Then Chris went to the Mad Max Museum featured in the photo. Silverton was where Mad Max was filmed he said it was amazing lots of the original cars cars were out the back and there were a lot of people there, it is very popular.
I went to a house that had over 200 dolls on display.
We then went down to the hotel where there were donkeys out the front we saw them wandering there earlier just on their own. The hotel has featured in several things A Town Like Alice,Dirty Deeds and several ads they just change the name on the front. We then went to the jail which was very interesting and has several rooms that had been added on to make it a museum. They had some really great stuff but we are probably going to call that side of things a day as probably most places will have something similar and there is only so much you want to see.
We then went to the Mundi Mundi lookout where you could see just so far into the distance and just flat flat land.
We then came back into town and went to a gallery which has the largest canvas painting in the world called The Big Picture it is 100 metres long and 12 metres high and took 9 tonnes of paint it was amazing.
We then went to a gallery which sells opals and is also home to the the largest private collection of opals in Australia it is amazing how many different colours they come in and how they look in their raw state. There was a pendant for sale for $17000.00!!!
We then went up to a lookout which overlooks the whole town,it is quite spread out and has very wide streets with very high gutters. Apparently they don't get a lot of rain here but when it rains elsewhere it travels to this area.
There is also a miners monument which lists every miner who died in the mines starting about the mid 1800's the date they died, their age and what they
died of. Some of them were only 12.
We came back to the racecourse and went for a walk for an hour as Chris was hoping to see some wildlife but it was not to be. There were however very large ants and had our first taste of flies on our backs. We arrived back at 6 o'clock and it was calm and 22deg very pleasant.
Tomorrow we are going to to the flying doctor base so that should be interesting. Tell you about it next time!!

Marj Sounds like you are having a wonderful time Stephanie and Chris. Russell and I are living at Macandrew Bay at the moment looking after Tom, Poppy and Zita while their Mum and Dad are in Mexico and San Francisco. A very interesting experience I must say. It's going pretty well really. We are on day 6 of 13 now so almost half way, not that I'm counting or anything! Kelli and Miles have been swimming in the Carribean and we are here in the snow! Well not today, it's a lot warmer than it was earlier in the week. Keep enjoying your travels and posting on here. Really enjoy reading it xxx

I think it is the following weekend here not that it matters to us at the moment every day is the weekend. I have been following your weather as I am getting the ODT on line which is great.
