Today we had to leave the Murray river for the final time. It was sad to know that we wouldn't have a great river front home for another night. Our sadness was quickly quashed because to get across the river and continue our journey we had to be taken by a small ferry. Bob the ferry man ( I told him i wouldn't pay him till he got me to the other side...and i sang it..haha) ushered us on for the one minute ride across the river. He even let me exit the vehicle without a safety vest to take photos. A very nice man. We then continued on to Peterborough. During this leg we encountered massive winds and the landscape changed from salt bush to beautiful green pastures in the blink of an eye. Lucas was not happy that the mighty hilux could not make it out of fourth gear in the crazy wind. SA also has about sixty million wind mills. I have never seen so many in my life. After an uneventful lunch at Peterborough we headed for our final destination Port Augusta. You have to go through the beautiful Flinders Ranges to get there and it is a great windy road that seems to be carved out of the range. An amazing site. I did take lots of photos but none of them do it any justice. When you get through the ranges you are greeted with a great view of the ocean. Personally I was a little disappointed with Port Augusta...very industrial and a bit swampy. Tonight we have stopped at the foot of the Flinders Ranges...on to Coober Pedy tomorrow.
