We checked out this morning around 10 and then had some time before our boat left at 2:30! We left off our big rucksacks to be stored for the next couple of days and used the computer in Peterpans to sort our lives out a bit. I noticed that there was a flights sale on so managed to book fairly cheap ones to Uluru (Ayers Rock) which is pretty cool! Only downside was when I tried to talk to the girl in Peterpans about which tour to book she was majorly pushy and just doing my head in...was seriously unimpressed. We headed down to the boat fairly early and sat in the waiting/pick up bit of the port.
While we were sitting there a few other boats went, including the Tongarra which was what I was originally going to book on to because it was cheap - was kind of glad I hadn't when they were told to double whatever alcohol they had brought with them and go and buy their own ice if they wanted to keep it cold! Our boat was pretty small, it only had 8 people on it and the 2 crew members - Anna and I, an english couple on their honeymoon, a french couple, and an older australian couple. The boat was nice though, and we were prepared for not exactly having a party boat! The food was totally amazing, which was good as I hadn't really eaten anything all day until I got on it! We didn't stop anywhere the first day as we had set off so late which was a bit disappointing, just sailed. Was cool to sunbathe on the deck and just chill out!
The french couple didn't talk very much, not sure if they weren't good at english or what. The english couple were really nice though. They said they'd basically got married just so they could get a honeymoon haha, it was all a bit weird, but fair enough!
Anna and I had a private room on the boat which was cool - you don't get that on many (Tongarra some people have to sleep on the deck!) although it was a complete sweatbox! The boat had aircon but they didn't like using it because it was noisy...a little bit of false advertising there if you ask me...got the impression we were paying a bit more for the luxury of aircon, but seeing as our boat got upgraded anyway I guess I can't really complain!
