This morning I had a free surf lesson to use which I could only do at 8.30am...not the best! I got up for pancakes at 7 though and convinced Leonie and Sian to come with me - Sian took Sven's one as he couldn't be bothered going out so early. Turned out pretty good that they had come because we were the only ones there! It was nice, Sian had never surfed before so he mainly helped her out and I could just do what I wanted which was fine with me! By the end I was seriously tired though haha! We went back and sat by the pool for a bit. We ended up at the pool for most of the day because it was so hot and we were all shattered, but it was cool just to hang out. Said bye to Luke and Ryan around lunchtime as they headed on up the coast. Had a wander around the shops at one point with Sian and met her friend James and a girl from his hostel who were really nice. Then back to the pool and I met some more germans to practice my language skills on! Later on in the afternoon I also met the irish couple from my first night who were just back from Fraser, and had an awesome time too!
We met Gas (one of our leaders) at one point and he told us to go up to the lookout to see the sunset because it was really cool. We planned to meet around half 4 and start the walk up. Somehow between this plan being formed, and us actually leaving, we all seemed to pick up at least one or 2 extra people...some of home brought others...
By the time we left the hostel we had a huge group of people, all following me because I was the only one with a vague idea where we were going haha, not good! It was really nice though, everyone was pretty cool. We trekked up a big hill and made it to some huge sand dunes, it really was gorgeous. Didn't manage to see the rainbow sands that rainbow beach is meant to be famous for though! We were just chilling out for a bit, waiting for sunset, when we noticed loads of people starting to spell out "Will you marry me?" In the sand dune opposite! We thought we were being very clever by spelling out a huge "Yes!" on our side...until we realised it was an actual proposal and ran about like mad things trying to get it to go away! Then we sat for a bit waiting for the couple to come up and see the proposal! It was really cool, but they took forever haha, we were a bit worried they wouldn't make it. We had the sense to move everyone away from where they would be coming up so that there wasn't a big group of backpackers sitting watching from like 2 feet away as it happened haha. After a lot of random couples going past (serious possiblity for awkward conversations as some people might have thought it was for them!) the right one finally came, and it was so cute!! Actually the cutest thing I've ever seen...it all got a bit emotional haha. Expectations were seriously raised about how I want my proposal to go haha!
We went back to the hostel and some people were having drinks and stuff in the bar but I was seriously shattered by this point, and ended up going to bed at like half 8, after an attempt at skyping mum. On the way to bed, passed the room of the 2 danish guys who had been in our group up to see the sunset and they had a live chicken with them!!! One of the weirdest things I've ever seen, they are bringing it travelling with them...possibly going to eat it at the end! Much more ambitious than me with Zak haha.
