Sunday We decided to head for Kurramine Beach today as we thought the parks sounded nice on Wiki Camps. As we passed through Mission Beach the parks looked quite full so we rang ahead and there was nothing free at Kurramine. We decided to keep heading north but luckily took a wrong turn and ended up back at Mission Beach. It must have been fate as we called into the first park we came to - Tropical Hibiscus - and they had a vacancy so we booked for 3 nights. ...

Saturday Today was a bit of a rest day - a break from travelling so we didn't do much at all. We went to the beach again but this time from the other direction and I saw my first croc warning signs. I was horrified that I'd been in that water last night - even if it was just my toes. We walked down to the office/shop and bought ice creams. Another relatively early night.

Friday Having looked at WikiCamps and deciding on a couple of free camps to try we were disappointed to find them full of grey nomads and this was at midday. We travelled on north of Townsville to Rollingstone Beach and stayed at a really nice park. We set up the camper and took a walk along the beach dipping my toes in the water just on sunset. This is what holidays are all about.

Thursday This morning I did some washing and we drove into town for a look around. We went up to the lookout and weren't disappointed with some stunning views. We got lunch at the fish wharf and ate in the park. My prawns were delicious but Martin was not fussed with his grilled fish. Wednesday Onward and upward we drive to Bowen and find another great caravan park with huge flat grassy sites. We've started using the comments in WikiCamps to guide our choices and it's looking good. The office was decked out in the QLD maroons so we had a bit of friendly banter as we checked in for the 2 nights. After setting up and relaxing we went to the pub next door for dinner and to watch the 3rd state of origin - lost the game but won the series.
