damo and jane - tour 2004/5
This is the last postcard from Thailand as we are leaving shortly to fly on to Australia. We have spent 2 weeks at a resort called Coconut Beach (aka Haad Khom II bungalows) situated in a bay called Coral bay. This place is at the north of the island and is between Bottle Beach (Haad Kuat) and Chaloklum. Very secluded, very quiet and very welcoming. We found this place after hiring a bike for a few days and looking around the north of the island. I think it was probably the dalmation dogs that clinched the deal, and the cheap clean bungalow that was on offer. The rain didnt last too long and after the first 2 days of being there, we didnt have anymore until we left (and nowhere near as much). It was a great place to wind down even further, as it is a smaller setup which means more interaction with the family that run the place. You actually feel like it is your home as you write your own tab book and can literally get your own drinks, etc from the kitchen. Anyhow, our 2 weeks on coconut beach was spent catching a few rays (but not too many!), tending to Janes thailand tattoo (burn from exhaust pipe), I went fishing with the owner and caught some wierd looking fish (my fish had to go back as it had poisonous spikes on it!). We cruised round the island for a bit and checked out some place called Tong Nai Pan, Haad Salad, Haad Yao and Haad Sonn (excuse spellings). We also checked out a nice little secluded beach round the corner from coral bay which is only accessible by boat. So we took the plastic tub of a boat which we sunk.. Well, kind of deliberately as it was under controlled circumstances and posed no danger to anyone. Obviously we re-submerged it and got back. Mind you, we did see a topless swimmer that came from nowhere, then got out of the water, stood on the rocks, then disappeared..!? Seriously, I aint trippin!! So, crazy stuff aside, we basically made the most of our leisure time in thailand as we have to knuckle down and get jobs in Oz if we want to stay there for the year. Well, it could have been different if some un-named so and so that used to run a garage in Netley Marsh hadnt have ripped us off to the tune of nearly 2k by supposedly 'fixing' our vw camper... That is why the budget took a slight dent... Ah well, Im not bitter. We are still here and he will get his someday.. Karma will sort that out.. Right, Im going to bed as I am knackered. The site is now officially up to date until we do something else or take some more photos... Peace to you all.. Be good!
