Times flies and it's over one week since I crossed the border to CR JUST to do some adventure tours! On he other hand not having planned out my trip beforehand presented me with the opportunity to go with some friends to Tortugero and look at the turtle breeding... I stayed a night in Puerto Viejo first...a nice and laidback town on the carribean with laods of guys biking around with their boards...I biked around as well but only with a mango in my basket...not so cool...
The following day (Sunday) I got hooked on my book and didn't make it out of my room until late. I then went to an internet cafe and suddenly ran into Rach again who I've seen in Mexico and Guatemala... Went out to dinner with her and two other girls from the states. They planned to go to Tortugero. During dinner I decided to join them...It's always nice to tag along! So Monday morning we caught the bus to Limon and went to the docks of Moin. We got ourselves a boat and soon we were cruising down the rivers...We spotted crocodiles, monkeys, slots and laods of birds! It was great until it started to rain! We all got drenched... Found some rustic accommodation close to the beach but far away from town. In the evening we walked for one hour on the beach in pitch black. Had an annoying israeli lady in our group which kept stepping on things and talking non-stop! We arrived to a spot on the beach where there were 200 people were gathered...One huge green sea turtle just finised laying her eggs and now she was digging them down while we all watched her like in a zoo! CR always promote themselves with eco-tourism especially when it comes to the turtles and the breeding season...I guess this is eco-tourism-latin-american-style! So yeah...didn't really enjoy the turtle watch but I'm glad I went to Tortugero cause I enjoyed the boatride through the Tortugero National Park and seeing my first crocodile!
