Today we decided to catch a train to Naples. We arrived 2hours later but having to take the 2.44pm return did not leave much time for sightseeing. We struggled in the heat and quickly tired of the walking. We found a hole in the wall deli where they cut a crusty loaf in half, stuffed it with mortadella and cut it in half. What an incredible experience! We were escorted by an amazing guide who left us in awe of the Roman civilisation and it's many achievements. We were given many insights into what must have been a highly developed society. The tour included the coloseum, the forum, the ancient ruins and finally the Circus maximus, each more incredible than the last! After 3hours we were tired and needing of a rest. Today we did the Vatican Tour with Lelio and Tizziana. It starts by visiting the Vatican museum followed by the Basilica and finally St Peters Cathedral. The guide was very knowledgable and informative making the tour a must do experience. It's hard to believe that people were capable of producing such amazing monuments. The remainder of the day was spent resting, enjoying the sights and the company of our travel companions.

Today we took the city tour bus. It takes u around the major sights of Rome and can get off an on at certain places. It was a beautiful clear day and we were able to see the many incredible historical landmarks. The Trevi fountain is being renovated so we couldn't do the '3 coins in the fountain' but u could imagine how beautiful it must be. There were still people everywhere. We left Dubai this morning heading to Rome. We arrived Fumicino airport 2.30pm and experienced a true Roman welcome. 400 people were herded like animals at an abbottoir thru only 3 passport checkpoints. Tempers became heated and it took as over an hour to have our passports stamped. Welcome to Rome where service is virtually non-existent.
