We will miss Paronella Park. We left Paronella Park early morning to hunt down a wild Cassowary. Dad is pretty set on seeing a wild one. He spoke to people at Skywalk and they told him that they knew of some in Etty Bay which is not far away.
We drove down to Etty Bay and we ran straight into one. It was a young bird and it was very interested in us. It looked friendly but Dad reminded us how dangerous the birds are. Our Lonely Planet book even reminded us to always keep a "solid object" between us and the bird. Dad is such a scaredy cat that I don't think this will be a problem, he was not so keen to get out of our camper and get closer photos. We took a bunch of photos and it even looked like he was posing for them.
After grabbing some photos dad dragged us to a sugar cane museum. The museum was OK, we learnt about how sugar is made and saw a bunch of old cars, tractors and tools used for making sugar. Probably not the most exciting museum we have been to.
Next stop our caravan park. Tonight we are staying at Big4 Cairns. We. will be here for the next 4 days. This place is great. Two different pools, spas, a water splash park, two jumping pillows, tennis courts and a mini golf course. Today we checked out the pool and had a blast.
Next few days we are planning to visit Cairns city, take the train to Kuranda and visit Green Island for some snorkelling.
