Saturday morning we set out towards Norwich by car with Janet at the helm. First stop was Colchester a busy small fairly ordinary city, one of the first areas occupied by the Romans and we vsited the Castle. Next on to Constable Country ie Dedham and Flatford, many sites where Constable painted, particularly the series on the river and tow path. National Trust own much of the sites, all good except a very poorly designed tea room on the River Stour. We had a B&B booked in Howe outside Norwich, a converted stone barn in a very small village. Sunday morning an early start to visit Norwich Cathedral, huge wonderfull 900 year old building it was snowing when we arrived. Norwich is a lovely city as we explored the Medieval part of the city. Venturing further north to the Norfolk Broads an area of interconnecting lakes and rivers, a English boating holiday area. Then to the holilday coast where we even passed "The Gold Coast" and hundreds of in place caravans smaller and worse than any examples at home. On the coast lwe had unch at Cley-next-the Sea and on to Blakeney and the wild marshlands. At Wells-next-the-Sea there were lots of bathing boxes - very English!! Lots of snow and a long drive back to London, I managed to get us back but not fun driving fast into snow on a multi lane road in the dark.
