Well the temperature has risen a promised, but so has the humidity, yesterday it was 95%. Nothing dries and everything feels damp all the time. However to beat this we have been to one of Budapest's many spas and to the outdoor pool and spa on Margit Island on the Danube. Lukacs is a historic thermal baths which has indoor and outdoor pools. The temperature of the pools ranges from 22, 32, 36 and 46 degrees. In between the pools there are steam rooms and saunas. You can also have various treatments which include mud baths and massages - of course we wanted the mud bath but they said it was for 'medical' purposes only so we had to put up with an 'aroma' message. Hmmmmmm...4 hours later we emerged relaxed and pummelled. I really enjoyed jumping into the cold plunge pool after the hot thermal springs as it was so invigourating.
The day after, we went to the outdoor swimming pool on Margit Island which is very spectacular with its many pools including a thermal pool - it is so wonderful to relax in the hot water and enjoy the bubble jets around the pool. Very civilised.
At the beginning of the week Chris wanted to visit a train park and I chose to go to the zoo. We both had a good time pottering around on our own before meeting up to explore Hero's Square. One thing we noticed straight away after arriving from Italy, everything is so clean and tidy here. Unlike Sicilly there is hardly and rubbish. Everyone puts it in the bin. Even along our street, the rubbish from the previous nights partying is cleared away in the early hours of the morning. However on the negative side there are many homeless wandering the streets begging, something we are told is a big problem here.
It is now Sunday evening and for the past four days we have been enjoying the Formula 1 at Mogyrod, a small town just outside Hungary. We had good weather until the qualifing started and then the heaven's opened and we had an almighty thunder storm and torrential rain. It made qualifing very exciting.
Today was the race and the sun shone and of course Lewis Hamilton won so we were very happy. It was so hot we were wearing wet towels to keep cool!
Tomorrow we leave Budapest for Prague.
