Rain, rain, rain since we arrived back in Budapest, it is LOVELY! The temperature is a cool 17 degrees and it's very refreshing after the hot muggy weather we have had over the past week.
After arriving in Budapest on Friday we walked to our appartment in the centre of the city. It is located in Kazinczy Street in the old area of town, a cultural and nightlife centre in the Jewish quarter of the city. The area has become popular since the introduction of 'ruin' pubs set up in the old buildings created from upcycled materials in a creative manner. These pubs are full of party goers and local people enjoying themselves into the early hours. I know what you are thinking - noise all night long, but no although the entrance is on the street, it enters into a courtyard with balconies above and into a second courtyard further back, so we have a peaceful nights sleep when we get back from partying all evening!!!
This weekend the Red Bull Air race is here in Budapest. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the rain yesterday, but it dried up a bit this afternoon and we were able to watch this thrilling spectacle as they flew the course along the Danube. I tried to take a few shots but my camera isn't fast enough. If you look at my main photo carefully you will see a stream of smoke from the plane, which is a small dot in the distance, as it flys through the marker gates. As you can see from the photo the cloud level is very low. The weather is supposed to improve tomorrow and rise back up to the high 20's and continue to rise for the remainder of the week.
