The second week in Escales has flown by and our last full day here is tomorrow. Last weekend we visited Carcassone a lovely old walled city with small narrow streets and turrets along the outer wall. It was very picturesque and busy with lots of food outlets offering crepes and the area speciality 'Le Cassoulet'. It has been very warm here with temperatures in the '30's for the last week or so.
This week our duties at the workaway have been painting and drawing. Chris was indoors and I spent a second week mostly outside in the sun which was great. The paint here is rubbish as it is very watery and you need two coats of everything, though on the plus side the paint dries very quickly! Chris has also managed to do some more sketching and used his skills to provide some visualisation sketches for our hoast which is good. He is also making lamp holders from roof tiles using an old vice he was asked to renovate. We hope to take photographs of them and add them to our photo library.
On Friday we leave for Sicily. We are travelling this time by train and boat, eventually arriving Sunday evening.
