Please consider my resume and attached documents for your advertised position of an English Language Instructor with your institution
Presently I am on an E2 Visa in Korea since Aug/10 teaching Public School under the EPIK program. I have taught all grades at two middle schools including summer/winter camps, and teachers conversation classes.
In addition I hosted two half day writing workshops for Korean English Teachers at the Palgong Teacher Education Training Centre in Jan/13. A Korean social group has invited me twice as a guest speaker for a four hour lecture in two parts on British Culture and History to a group of about 50 Korean Adults. Also I was tutoring two Korean English Teachers for 12 weeks on a 'Buddy Program' run by the Daegu School Board.
Prior to coming to Korea I was working in the Insurance Industry in Canada for 12 years working on both Personal and Commercial Insurance in areas such as personal and commercial automobile, home insurance, small commercial, manufacturing, and specialty high risk business.
My last position was a Senior Underwriter Specialty Group Insurance, and I hold my Associateship, Fellowship, and Risk Management Designations. These comprise of 12 College level courses and 10 University level courses so would be equivalent to having a Masters degree in addition to my Honors BA from the University of Toronto.
During my time in the Insurance Industry and as a Senior Underwriter I was responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring junior staff, as well as holding internal training workshops, one on one coaching, and file auditing. I also taught external Broker licencing courses and did large group presentations to major commercial clients.
These are all skills and experience that would be relevant to a University teaching position in addition to the three years practical teaching experience I have had in Korea. I can speak Korean at a low intermediate level and am comfortable working with people of all ages.
I have been recognized as a blogger promoting Korean society by the City of Daegu and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and would be a welcome addition to any team.
My work history shows my versatility and adaptability working in many diverse areas. I am an enthusiastic self starter and look forward to hearing from you to discuss further my opportunities with your organization
Sincerely
