Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Last two stops on the weekend Doors Open event was the Railway Museum and Shaver Homestead. The Railway Museum was in an industrial unit by Weston Rd and Highway 401 so a bit hard to find.
It was quite small and hard to navigate the alleys with so many people. I had visited a Railway Museum in Hamburg Germany which I think is the worlds largest (see entry http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-en tries/londone7/29/1414094650/tpod.html)
This one was nowhere near elaborate but is run by enthusiasts. The best way to view was to go on the upper control deck for an aerial view.
Next stop was the Shaver Homestead on the East Mall in Etobicoke. This was formerly a fruit farm. The home was actually on the other side of the street and moved in the early 80s to its present location which is now a park.
