Each year our company has an annual meeting in Montreal and the underwriters from the Toronto and Calgary offices are flown out. We fly out from Toronto's downtown island airport.

There is a short ferry ride across the 100 or so metres to the island. Plans for a bridge have faced strong opposition for fears it will lead to further development on the island which is mostly parkland. A pedestrian foot tunnel is under construction but has faced long delays.

Once again on takeoff there were amazing views of Toronto's downtown skyline. I used to live a 15 min walk from the island airport so am familiar with a lot of the buildings I saw constructed at the time.

On descent we also circled around Montreal's Olympic stadium and downtown skyline. It was interesting to see how the highways had been designed which seem like artistic sculptures though maybe not so practical with the growth in traffic from the 60s when they were built.
