I have reached Baguio City, nestled 5000 ft above sea level atop the Grand Cordillera Mountain Range, the highest city in the Philippines. On average it is 10 degrees Celsius cooler here than the lowland temperature. I reached this place like this: bus, ferrry, bus from Sablayan to Manila for 12 hours and then 7 hours by bus from Manila. A very scenic route here, across mountains and jungle and nice views down the steep roads. I checked in to a decent hotel (Belfranlt Hote) and it was great to after a deserted island without showers and a night and day on the bus/ferry to have a nice hot shower and a good bed to sleep in tonight! Reason I stay here tonight is that the next bus to Sagada is leaving 06:30 in the morning, so I will go there after my 5 am wake up call and breakfast. Sagada is supposed to be really cool with hiking, waterfalls, hanging cemeteries and other coolness. After that to Banaue to see the Unesco protected rice teraces and some more hiking. After that (in about 6 days or so) it is time to move back towards the south again, to Clark airport near Manila to fly to Borneo.
