And so it all comes to an end....... In USA anyway.......
And New York was the perfect way to end it........ It was the city that inspired me to travel in the first place (dreamworlds of a shopaholic) and it did not disappoint........ Have had to 'invest' in a bigger suitcase (the other one snapped- app too much pressure- lightweight!)
Managed to fit in a few sights as well....
Empire State Building (funny story to follow)
Top of the rockerfella centre- beautiful views
Ground zero ( no words to describe the tribute)
Wall Street - a real buzz about the place
Times Square- spent most evenings here
Trump tower
Chrysler building
Had lovely catch ups with team trek America- hot chocolate and lunch with jade, mamma Mia with Brooke (something ive always wanted to do) and a very short catch up with Lucy (to be cont in the UK)- even in a city as big as New York, we still managed to randomly bump into each other - still in sync:)
Enjoyed a lot of 'me' moments-
Walking around Central Park, listening to music
Reading books at Starbucks inbetween the sight seeing
Watching great American tv (finally got into how I met your parents and the Big Bang theory) abs LOVE White Collar (devastated when I realised the main guy, my front runner for Christian grey was taken) but wow!!
Naturally there were a few 'Deepti' moments:-
- on my first night in New York, was woken up by a loud beeping noise at 2am...... Went on to turn the alarm off, only for it to beep again at regular intervals.......Went onto switch all the buttons off , turn the volume down etc (yes I could have taken the plug out but it was under the bed and I've seen enough horror movies to know not to do that in the middle of the night) anyway I eventually fell asleep through it....... Asked housekeeping about it the next morning- it was the defective smoke alarm in the room!! Defo felt like a phoebe from friends moment where she tried to dismantle the smoke alarm
- went in search of the Empire State Building but kept getting off track each time by the shops, lovely people stopping to chat (British accents are a magnet) and other sites...... Eventually gave up on the empire state building and decided to stop for a hot chocolate instead (bags weighing me down) ....... A filming crew came in to interview tourists on what it felt like to visit the infamous building........ Yes I was inside the building!!!
Ohhh I will miss New York so much......and USA in general...... Really wish I could have shared this with a lot of people but Team Fab in particular - it's the break we have always chatted about:)
Off to Asia now- woo hoo (mum will be glad to know the airport made a very important announcement...... 'Please do not accept packages from fellow travellers' - mum obv has connections at JFK airport xx
Writing this on my 6 hr stopover in Taiwan- I love the boutique airport- it has a e room, reading lounge, relaxation lounge, massage lounge (free)....... And DUTY FREE!!!
I might never see Asia
