It's getting hard to keep track of days - they all seem to merge in to one with sooooo many activities......
So straight after the trek in Grand Canyon, the next day we went on another road trip to Utah. Our first stop was the Monument Valley where we did a jeep tour....possibly one of the most natural and beautiful landscape..... We saw where some scenes from movies were filmed such as Back to the Future...... Abs gutted there were no celebrities there this time..... After buying some lovely jewellery from the Navajo natives, we went onto the the best bit- Navajo Tacos!!!! Fried bread topped with beans, cheese, onions, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce........ It was calorie- licious:)))
But we ran of all the calories when we stopped over and did the Forrest Gump run on the ACTUAL road- so much fun taking photos whilst dodging cars
Mesa verde national park in Colorado was the next stop (a slight detour) .......
It still holds the dwellings of Pablo natives who lived there for 700 years without being discovered, making sandals, corn, jewellery and tools to sell onto the world...... One of the dwellings had 400 rooms-my kind of dwelling ( imagine all those rooms filled with shoes and bags!!!)
The highlight was visiting the 4 Corners- the only place in the United States where 4 states meet (Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico) had some lovely pics taken there - felt fab to be sitting slap bang in the middle :)
Then there was Santa Fe...... THAT was an experience!! We reached there around 7 in the evening and Kip dropped us off in the 'city centre' to go shopping- ALL shops were closed!! So we had a couple of hours to play cat and mouse with a few dodgy characters.......just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, we were shot at ( ok, it was silly string but it took a few seconds before we realised that!)
Of course you would think that we'd be grateful for when kip returned to pick us up at this point and be rushing to get into our van...... No, we thought it would be much funnier to see him reverse park and fail (3 times) ....... Of course he gave up, not realising we were watching, and drove off ( at which point we realised damn we needed to get in there!) so funny teasing him about it though!
Santa Fe in the morning was a huge contrast...... We went to the market area of the city area and spent some time talking to the local natives who all make money from digging up turquoise stones from different mines ...... The stories behind each one were amazing!!
Next stop was Roswell where we went to the International UFO museum......now I knew the basics about the whole alien conspiracy but this was so much to take in...... Read so many articles and witness statements and cover ups....... Came out even more confused about whether I believed the conspiracy or not....... The fun part was defo going to another place to take pics with aliens in different settings- aliens at bars, at a BBQ, in the bath........ Some of us REALLY got into it (LUCY!!!!) defo a great find Brooke:)
We drove to Carlsbad next which was our first camping experience!!! But only food wise- our rustic cabins were beautiful! It was the most organised BBQ I have ever been to in the most disorganised way...... From the supermarket sweep ( where we were all given ingredients) to the prep of the lovely hot dogs, kebabs, salads and of course THE highlight of the evening- Hershey's cheesecake made from scratch......... Yes it tasted a bit like omelette when we all dug into it straight from the pan but it had chocolate and chocolate makes everything ok!!
The next day was my personal highlight..... Carlsbad Caverns in new mexico! I have always been a little claustrophobic and had never even entertained the idea of going into a cave, let alone hiking down it!! But that's what I did- I went hiking down the deepest cave in the United States- WOOHOO!!! (Please feel free to congratulate me as this was a personal victory and I am so NOT modest about it!!) the views were spectacular, any pics I have taken will not do it any justice at all..... It was like walking through Narnia:)))
Had a very funny moment I there though........ Went looking into the 'telescope' to see if I could get a better view of some of the structures ........ IT WAS A CCTV CAMERA- the security guard must have had a right laugh with my eye covering the view...... BUT I was not the only one (bimbo moment done)
We had a bit of a moment yesterday when we realised we are hallway through the tour now...... It will be really sad as I've been lucky to be a part of a lovely group and will so miss them all ......
Heading into Texas now and can't wait- so hoping to bump into Jesse Metcalf!
Ooh and it seems Alicia Keyes is stalking us- seems to be singing in a the same states we are in- exciting!!
Catch y'all later!!!
Ps I need some London gossip
I HIKED DOWN A CAVE!!!!!!!! (I'm done)

Trups x Hey Dips - Mum and I really enjoyed reading this blog together. We coulfdn't stop laughing at your bimbo moment and I'm sure the security guards must have has a right laugh at your expense. It sounds like you are all having a fab time and mum has a massive smile on her face now. She's glad your in a cave somewhere and not near a bar...is that a good thing? I'm not to sure about that one.... She fears for your safety at a bar, but in a cave...no problem! Keep us posted x Love you. Mum and Trups x
