Last day here in River Falls!!
Had a quiet morning at home and were very happy to meet Shannon's Mum and Dad, Joy and Harland, who came over to visit mid-morning. Joy has been writing to my aunt, Geraldine, longer than Shannon and I have been writing (43years!!) !! We caught up and laughed about some of our early 'cassette tape' letters and old photos, and it was lovely to finally put faces to names. Afterwards we did some accommodation research for our journey from San Francisco to LA. We hadn't booked anything and from what we've heard, that might be a bit tricky at this time of year, so we booked a hotel 'down in Monterey' and one at Ventura, you guessed it .... 'Ventura Highway, in the sunshine.....'!! This trip continues to be quite surreal when we find ourselves in places like this! (can't think of a River Falls song though!! :-) - neither can Shannon!!! LOL!!!)
This afternoon we picked up Shannon's friend, Linda, and went to a bar along the St Croix River called Pier 500, which also overlooks a very pretty park. It reminded us much of the atmosphere of having a drink at The Grandview - relaxed atmosphere, parkland, and boats bobbing on the water. Very lovely. Linda is very kindly taking us to the airport tomorrow, as Shannon has to start the new school year tomorrow with her Year 3 class.
As I write this, Shannon is whipping up another culinary treat for us, some Taco Salad and some Pork Ribs - graciously catering to all tastes!! I suppose we'll have to have some farewell drinks tonight too! .... HoHum !!!
Off to San Francisco via Denver tomorrow. Countdown is now at 10 and counting!!!! Xxx
