Had a great day living like a local in River Falls, Wisconsin. Went to the local coffee shop this morning and met up with Shannon's friend, Sandee, then went for a stroll looking at the shops. We made our way down to Shannon and Sandee's Friday afternoon drinking hole and had some Wisconsin fare for lunch and tasted the local beer!! We moved on for a further stroll and then went for a drive around to see the area's places of note and then to Shannon's other friend, Linda's place. Tom, Linda's husband was at the ready and had some frozen Daiquiris made for us which were fantastic. After an hour or so of telling stories and making fun of each others' accents, (and lots of laughs!!) we left to meet up with Sandee again to go out for dinner. Well .... that was spectacular!! We drove for about 40 minutes to a small winery, literally in the middle of nowhere, that is set up as an outdoor eatery with live music and a very festive atmosphere, and operates during the warmer months of the year. We sat for a couple of hours enjoying the wonderful green surrounds of the vineyard, lawns and woodlands - just beautiful, and of course the 'Vino in the Valley' wine, and then had the best pasta that we've had since traveling (yes, better than Italy!!). It was a lovely evening with great food and wonderful company!! Shannon is an outstanding host and looking after us so well!! Having a ball here with 'The Cheeseheads' (Greenbay Packer fans!!!). Xxx
