Enjoyed a big and great day doing some bus touring and a 1/2 day walking tour of The Vatican. I know many of you have been, but we weren't quite prepared to be so overwhelmed!!! Just AMAZING!! Even our guide who is an archeologist and full blooded Roman kept using the word 'amazing' with genuine appreciation and awe!! Saw the beautiful gardens, the museum section, The Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basillica. Bwian was very lucky in The Basillica, as he was taking a photo, he felt a light tug on his bag, and stopped a pick-pocket from taking his wallet! It was a woman with a strategically draped shawl trying her stuff!! Whew!!! After that we hopped on a 'Hop on Hop off' bus and didn't hop off for ages. We did 1 1/2 loops to get a good idea of the city layout and it is totally chockers! Every time you blink there is something else ancient and incredible to see!! We have now (at 7:45pm), found our way to an Irish Pub around the corner from our hotel (how conveeeenient!!!!!). We will probably wander across the road to a pizza/chianti cafe, just for something different for dinner!!! The Olympics are on the TV here, but we are out of the loop with how Australia is faring, although we are aware they haven't really met the swimming expectations! Tomorrow we get to really see the Colosseum in our walking tour. It was quite an emotional experience seeing it for the first time today! Well, when in Rome ....eat pizza and drink Chianti!! Ciao!!!
