Well here I am at the start of week 5 already. Where has the time gone?
The holiday feeling has now gone and I'm settling into a routine...well, someone has to do the washing and clean the Condo. However, I get to go to the pool everyday :)
It's low to mid 90's everyday at the moment and it's so hot. I find that I now either have to go to the pool around 10am or wait until about 3pm. If I go after lunch, as did previously, I'm getting too hot and that makes me feel unwell. I also burnt at the beach on saturday so I still need to be careful. Anyone want to swap fair skin and red curly hair for an olive complection and dark straight hair please?
The shops (stores) over here sell just about anything. I almost froze in walmarts the other day when I noticed I was walking past the bullet section...yes, bullets for guns on sale in the equivalent of asda's!! The foods amaze me too. It's all full of colourings and I mean bright colours.
Halloween is fast approaching (apparently) so the stores are preparing by filling the shelves with goodies for the big event. Now at home, maybe sainsburys would have half an aisle of candy, whoops sweets, and costume items. Well it's a bit different here...try 3 or 4 double sided aisles...crazy. They have costumes for kids, costumes for adults, I even saw a Hot Dog outfit for a dog LOL!!! Plus all the candy, items to decorate your home with, bowls to serve the candy in and of course, huge cakes for the special day. The halloween cakes are either flourescent orange or green...it's amazing that people eat this stuff!!
In the gift card aisle, you can find cards for single Mums, congratulations on your plastic surgery, anything stupid you can think of, they have a card for it!
I'm also starting to get confused over what we have at home in the shops and what is available here. Somethings I think we get at home, we don't at all. Everything is so much cheaper here. I think when I get nhome, not only am I going to have a weather shock, but I think I'm going to faint at the prices and miss some things I can get here...but I'll be so pleased to come back to real bacon, roast potatoes and fish & chips.....how I miss home.
Love d xx
