Hi Everyone,

Well yesterday was a holiday here, Labor Day. I've asked what that means, but no-one has been able to tell me yet.

Sunday evening we went to a 'get to know you' social in the clubhouse here. The Condo is in a block of 5 or 6, with the pool, bbq, tennis courts etc, in the centre of them all. Some of the residents have been here since they were built over 30 years ago. There's a lot of new folks arrived so a social was held for everyone to get to know each other. We were told when we arrived, 5 mins late, that unfortunately we'd missed the Oath Of Alligiance...damn! However, we were made extremely welcome and ate well! So that was my first experience of an American social.

The news here has been full of Hurricane events. Gustav did much elss damage than expected and the only effects we had were rainn and thunder friday through saturday. The next one is headed this way is called Hanna. This could hit here on Thursday, but might miss altogether. Fingers crossed on that one because we fly to New York on Thursday!

So now it's suddenly occured to me that I have just two days to pack for New York...what does one wear when sightseeing in New YorK??? Oh crikey, better get on with it I suppose. Next week I shoild have some fantastic photos to share with you!
