Another nice day (yes i know its summer but that doesnt mean its always sunny here.) Decided this was a perfect day to do the whole walk from Coogee to Bondi. Caught the bus down to Coogee and although it was only 11am the beach was already packed. Probably the majority being backpackers! Wasnt planning on staying at this beach and soon headed onto the coastal path. Alo of other people also had the same idea as me. Some people were doing the walk as there morning jog! The first bay i came to was Gordons Bay. This was only a small bay with no snd but with crystal clear water. There were several people snorkelling here but im not sure there were many fish to see, but they were obviously there looking for something. The next beach was Clovelly Beach, which was also very busy. This beach is kind of in an inlet sothere were no wasves. AS the water was so calm this is a popular beach for small kids that seem to line the shore and be ont he sand!. Carried on walking around to Bronte beach. This was a bigger beach still lots of people with cards parked everywhere. There was more surf here so popular with the surfers. Stayed here for a little while but headed along to Tamarama beach. This was smaller than bronte but still popular especially with the surfers. Sat here and had my lucnh watching the surfers that made it look so easy i dont know why i couldnt do it!! It was really hot by now and needed some shade to i walked around the finaly corner to Bondi beach. Dont think there was a spare inch of sand so sat on top of the hill in the park over looking the beach and out of the wind. I could here the lifeguards continually shout at everone to get back between the flags and onto the sandbank. There was a strong wind and current. And im guessing by the numbers of times her had said this nooone was listening. There is a programme starting soon called Bondi Rescue so there is obviously a danger on this beach yet noone was listening!! After a few hours relaxing and sunbathing up here finally descended to the beach and caught the buses back home.
On Sunday i went to Mary Mckillops Place. She was officially made a saint in 1995 when the Pope came to visit her tomb here. The place included a musuem, her house where she died, her tomb and a chapel. She and some of her sisters and eventually many other ladies becane nuns and taught very poor children in the outback. Her story and life was very interesting and the museum made it interesting to read and learn about. SHe became a saint after her miralce was proved to happen by current medical science. SHe cured a young women of leukemia.
On Tuesday after some job hunting i went to Susannah place. This is in The Rocks area of the city and is 4 terraced houses which is now a musuem. I was able to look around mosrt of the rooms in these houses including the yards and a cellar. THe houses are not in a good state, with damp and paint coming off the walls. The Historic Houses trust that own these house dont want to renovate them, they want to leave them for us too see. one house was occupied up until 1989. It was good to see how peoplpe lived in Sydney over the last 100years in these really small houses.
