Deb's Adventures
Eric and I are in Banner Elk North Carolina for a wedding. We have rented a house with Eric's parents, Aunt Jean, Uncle Rick, Sister Cindy, Niece Hannah, Nephew Henry, Cousin Cass, Cousin Riley and Cousin Abby. It's crazy hectic and super fun. Our place is amazing. It sits on the side of a mountain and has great views.
Yesterday we all piled into 3 cars and drove 20 minutes to Grandfather Mountain. Our first stop inside the park was the animal habitat. We watched the river otters feed and saw the deer and Eagle habitat. By far the highlight was the bear enclosure. We spent a lot of time watching the bears.
After the animals and the museum we made our way a little further up the road to have a picnic. The views were great and there were plenty of rocks and caves for the kids to explore.
A little further up the mountain we parked the car and all hiked the last 1/2 mile to the top where the countries highest suspension bridge is. The hike was fun and the kids did great. We walked across the bridge and peered over the edge of the cliffs on the other side.
Most of the family went back to the house to play at the pool for the afternoon while Eric, Dad, Uncle Rick and I stayed to do a hike. This was an expert style hike and was unlike any other hike we have ever done. There were cables to help walk along slick rock and ladders to help us get up steep cliff sides. The view from the top was amazing. We had a great adventure.
