The blogs have not been updated as we've not had any internet access for a while as we have been travelling through Central Australia from Darwin to Adelaide and have arrived into Adelaide today.
We have had an amazing 2 weeks and seen so much!!! Our first stop was Kings Canyon and a hike to the top to see the views into the canyon. The colour of the rock is a great red rusty colour which is produced from iron-ore in the air travelling over from West Australia, really it is sandstone which is white...quite hard to believe!! Then we travelled to Ayres Rock (Uluru) Resort and camped under the stars in a swag (I only lasted a few hours as it was to claustrophobic for me as its a canvas bag which you close yourself into!!!
The next day was a early start and Uluru was fantasic and the best bit of the trip so far. We saw the sunrise and sunset over the rock, did the 8km base walk and visited the cultural centre. During the two weeks we also visited the Opel mining town of Coober Pedy and the Flinders Ranges. More hiking but fantasic views from the top of the ranges.
Dan has picked up a cold bess him...due to change in temps. When we where in Darwin area it was high 30's and as we travelled down it got colder and now is around 17c and in the centre it was freezing at night!!!!!
The people (and guides!) that we have travelled with so far have been great and we have made some great friends. We are in Adelaide city centre now for 3 days before we head out to the country to do our volunteering at the wildlife sanctuary for 2 weeks. We are really looking forward to it and to be honest it'll be a bit of a rest for us!!! We have been doing 3 hours hiking a day, mostly uphill (apart from the base walk of Ayres rock)...very hard work but so proud of ourselves!!!!! And still so much to see and do!!!

Ian (Dad) Donna I never thought I would see the day when you would turn from a TV addict/ couch potatoe into a outwardbound explorer/hiker in such a short space of time !! I think you now know the best option. Hope Danny is recovering quickly from his cold. Keep enjoying life love Dad
