Very small and undeveloped but had a lovely hotel it had bungalow type rooms set in lovely garden with lovely swimming pool. Casa Hacienda . On arrival we went for a walk around but nothing to see , had to eat at the hotel again just us as there was no where else to eat ! First day we hired a guy with sand buggy and it was an amazing machine, he took us into the desert then let his tyres down and off we went into the desert, we did see one of the eight pyramids and visited an ancient burial ground from Inc times, some of the corpses were over 2000 years old but perfectly preserved due to this area having around 1mm of rain a year and zero humidity and they also mummified their dead then put them in the ground and covered them with sand, then when they were found their graves were robbed and they were just left exposed on top of the sand, it was quite sad to see all the bones some even still had hair and skin on very eery especially as it was so quiet Seems Peru does not have the money to preserve these sites which is a real shame. We then shot across the enormous sand dunes in the buggy oh boy was that fun and the driver was very skilled he would blast his way to the top then slow down as we hit the peak of the dune then go hell for leather down and up another. then we tried sand boarding, it is more difficult than you would think as it is extremely hard to stand on the board and we learnt sat/laid down, Dan attempted a stand but failed, the last go we had a little competition to see who could travel the furthest and surprise surprise Desrie kicked Dans ass, the prize was an optical allusion of Desrie standing in the distance but it looked like she was tiny and standing in the palm of Dans hand. Then to finish the day off we drove to the edge of the desert and watched the sun set behind the dunes what an amazing sight. What a laugh and brilliant fun think it one of the best days had so far. Next day went to see the famous Nazca lines, very spectacular, we went up viewing platforms to get a good look, the lines were amazing to see and a shame that they will disappear in a few decades so we are among the privileged to have seen them, they were made by sweeping the sand in straight lines and they made various shapes and animal figures. We also saw the museum where Maria Reiche lived she was the founder of making sure the lines were preserved and researched we went into a museum -- well actually it was a shed that a guy randomly opened up for us saying come and have a look inside -- with cats running around -- another perfectly preserved mummy in a glass case, she still had hair skin and teeth oh and tattoo's unbelievable how she is preserved she was found at the top of a mountain.
