Arequipa a large city with again lovely parks the people of Peru obviously love their parks they are all beautifully kept and have lot of water features . Walked to the Plaza de Armas one night and sat in a restaurant on the balcony overlooking the park it was lovely . On to Colca canyon amazing stopped to watch the condor's they were flying so close to us amazing to watch 'but it was a very hard trek nothing like we were led to believe also told would be staying in bamboo hut well it was actually more like a cow shed !! The shower and toilet best not to think about !! It was hard getting to the ' cow shed ' for the night and was told the following day getting out of the canyon a very hard uphill climb. Desrie gave in and did girly thing and cried !! So Dan sorted us both to ride a mule to get out of the canyon . Bit scary when we went round a corner and the mule got very close to the edge with a massive drop and Dan's decided it wanted be in front so took off Dan not chuffed !! Desrie felt sorry for the mule but stuck it out Dan not happy riding !! Then went to some hot springs that were HOT but nice to relax
Before we left we were taken to a village for breakfast it was like a ' cowboy ' town amazing buildings around a town square with hardly anyone around
Arequipa. 7/10. Colca canyon. 10/10. But trek. 0/10
