Friday, August 19 - Day 1
We got on the road by 9:15 AM, heading north on I-15 in the direction of Riverside. Around San Bernardino, the highway became very slow and congested as we passed the area of the recent wildfire. Lots of scorched earth, but nothing active. We stopped for lunch in the town of Victorville, then Rita drove for the next two hours, getting us to the Nevada border. Around 4 PM, we arrived at our destination, the town of Henderson, NV. Temperature was 105 (but it's OK because it's dry heat!). After a rest, we walked over to a massive casino and had a quite excellent dinner at a place called Sonoma Cellars, featuring a terrific ribeye steak. Then walked around the casino observing the altogether dysfunctional activity of people pouring money into very loud and garish machines. Not a lot to report upon, but at least we're on our way. Into Utah tomorrow.

Diana Clark I'm already loving your road trip, and you're only on Day 1. I hadn't thought about Victorville in a million years, so now I'm going to Google it. Keep the posts coming for my vicarious pleasure!
Dan Keiller We're with you David and Rita.
