Hotel in Cat Ba has a fantastic panoramic view of the harbour and just round the corner from a fab little beach.
However it also had the worst breakfast so far.
As normal there was a buffet with the choice of Western or Eastern. We always go East - noodles or soup are admittedly a strange breakfast but miles better than a Vietnamese attempt at a fry up. This time even the vietnamese was dire as the buffet was all cold noodles which are gross. We ate some and after a walk along the beach went to a cafe for iced coffees and eggs benidict a favourite for David and French toast for Yvonne. Knocked the socks off the hotels offering.
Back in Hanoi after a reverse bus bus ferry bus combo and had snacks and drinks above the lake in old town; very pretty and the full moon set it off.
Two days to the 60th anniversary of the revolution so all the streets are festooned with flags, lanterns, ballons (see photo) and all things party; can't wait till Friday.
