Early start for bridge day. We needed to be at the bridge for 11.00 and to have had breakfast. In fact they asked us 3 times if we had breakfast. You aren't allowed on the bridge hungry. Hungry is one of a long list of things they have banned from the bridge climb including hats, watches, hankies and cameras. They basically get you to strip then put you in a jumpsuit complete with a plethora of hooks for attaching a hat, glasses, radio, fleece, hanky and safety harness. It's like joining the army the amount of pack they attach to you. Then they breathalyse you (Surprisingly David passed with ease!), give you safety training on how to climb a ladder (Yvonne scraped a pass), other training included such subjects as how to tie your hanky to your wrist and how to put on a fleece then finally after an hour of this they take you onto the bridge.
It is amazing and surprisingly easy. The views were stunning and there were lots of stops to see the city views and of course the Sydney Opera House and the guide explained how and when it was built etc. in total it took 4 hours but no photos allowed so nothing for the blog, we did get old school photos of our group on top of the bridge and a certificate each for making it, Yvonne is very pleased with her certificate and it will take pride of place next to other certificates for physical achievements she has, including cycling proficiency (stage 1) 3rd place in year two egg an spoon race and 12m breast stroke.
At last after an extensive 2 day search David has found a pub he really likes. It's smelly and has interesting clientele but the cider is €5 a pint. I think we'll be back in here.
Korean for tea. David's was easy as he picked the soup but Yvonne picked a stir fry dish that came with 6 unnamed side dishes. The restaurant was advertising beef intestines. Who knows what we had but they looked like veg and David was very brave and ate tofu. Love the Asian food. Rounded off the Asian delights with a pitcher in the Thai bar we liked - free great wifi and that's not easy to fine. The cheap beer offer had nothing to do with it.
