8th to 9th March 2008 Early on Saturday 8th we began our train journey to Kuala Lumpur. This was an interesting experience, travelling with the local people, passing through mile upon mile of oil palm trees with the occasional town/village in between. 5th to 8th March 2008 Singapore was hot and steamy and unfortunately wet on the first morning but that gave us time to recover from the long flight from Hobart. We walked in Fort Canning Park, the original government hill, enjoying the exotic flowers and aromas in the spice garden, and learning about the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942 on our visit to the "Battle Box"inside the fort. On Thursday 28th February we flew to Hobart. Unfortunately the weather was not too kind to us and we had a damp and chilly start. However, we took ourselves on a walking tour of the city ending up with fish and chips from one of the floating fish vendors in the docks area. We arrived in Sydney on 13th February and have been enjoying being in our Aussie "home away from home"!
