We arrived in Sydney on 13th February and have been enjoying being in our Aussie "home away from home"! Unlike New Zealand, Australia has been having a very wet and fairly cool summer, although fortunately there hasn't been much rain since we arrived. The time here has passed very quickly as we have been catching up with our nephews and nieces and picking up tips from John and Pat who spend lots of time with their three grandsons. We have made a trip to the city where we had lunch at "Harry's Cafe de Wheels" in Woolloomooloo which is THE place to eat the famous Aussie meat pies! We have also spent a few days up at Nelson Bay with John and Pat, where we were fortunate enough to have some of the best weather of the summer, which we made the most of by going to the lovely beaches there. On our way back from Nelson Bay we stopped at The Entrance where we watched the pelicans come in for their daily feeding time on the wharf, which was quite a spectacle. On Sunday we spent the afternoon at Sarah's in the pool with the children - thank goodness the sun was still shining! We took a walk along the dramatic coastline at Laperouse, Botany Bay on Monday. In the evening we helped crew when our niece's father-in-law took his yacht out on Pittwater to take part in the weekly yacht race - they came tenth, but are still running fourth in the series with two weeks to go. Sadly we have to leave the "rellies" as we fly to Tasmania on Thursday.
Have to go now - the tinnies are getting warm - G'day!!
