We joined our Canyons Trek today. Leaving Las Vegas we crossed the Nevada Desert, through Arizona, into Utah, arriving in Zion N.P. in time for lunch. Its very cold but sunny and the scenary spectacular. Several of the walking trails are closed due to ice falls but we were able to walk along the Virgin River and visit the frozen Weeping Rock. We then headed to Pioneer Lodge, our hotel for the night, in Springdale. This very small town was mostly closed for New Year's Eve but we were able to eat great Mexican food in a small restaurant which stayed open until 7.30 pm! We managed to see the New Year arrive in New York two hours ahead of us on TV but were asleep before the New Year arrived in Utah! Happy New Year everyone!
