Hills' Around the World Trip
Most of the day on Wednesday 9th was spent driving to the Vietnam/Cambodia border and then on to Phnom Penh. April is the hottest month in Cambodia and we are certainly feeling it. On Thursday 10th we visited Tuoi Sieng Prison, also known as S21 (Security Prison21). This is a former high school converted into a detention and interrogation centre under Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. This was followed by a visit to the Killing Fields. Visiting these sites was very emotional and an experience none of us will forget. After lunch we were able to lighten the mood by taking a cyclo trip across town to the Royal Palace in all its splendour. Fortunately the Palace remained unscathed during Pol Pot's regime.
