Hi all.
So we met Dave’s uncle Geoff in Lydenburg and then headed up to his trout farm in a place called Finsbury, around 30km from Lydenburg.
It is a stunning setting set in a green valley with rivers flowing over the pathways and roads. Geoff's house is set on top of a hill surrounded by mountains and with deer on the verges and a beautiful decking to sit down on drink some wine and generally chill out from the 25 days of camping we have just done.
The house maid, Betty was in and offered to wash our dirty clothes which was nice - until we found out that she had destroyed one of Danny’s t-shirts!
Geoff taught us how to fly fish and all 3 of us actually really enjoyed it.
We fished in the dams and Dave actually caught one which we BBQ'd that night along with a whole host of meat. It is so peaceful here with a stunning view of the stars.
The second day we took a lift up to the Miners Cottage which is basically an old miners house at the summit of one of the mountains. It had magnificent views of the valley; along with quaintness that I am sure has made it a getaway for many of Finsbury’s householders.
The 2 days up here were so peaceful, and it was great to have a real bed :-) off top Johannesburg today to see Carol and spend Christmas.
