Hi guys.
So we left all Bush Camps and entered our first National Park - Etosha. This is the largest Game Park in Namibia and is the size of Switzerland. We were really looking forward to this stop as it was one of the main reasons for booking this tour.Megan has not been too well - mainly sleep deprived I think! You know how she likes her sleep. So on arrival we went on a midday game drive and saw very little - it's the worst time to game drive really as it's too hot! So we headed for camp, set up the tents and headed straight for the waterhole. Absolutely amasing - it's a man made waterhole which becomes floodlit during the evening and open 24/7. Megan and I stayed down here while everyone else headed to the pool and we saw giraffes drinking, closely followed by a Mummy Elephant and Baby come in too - we got some great pictures.
Food on the tour has been quite good so far - we have had braais (BBQ's), Stew, Soups and some local meat too including game. So far we have eaten Ostrich, Springbok, Kudu and some other local specialties - lovely.
We stayed out at the waterhole for the evening but a huge storm came and cut it short - however the electrical storms in the sky were phenomenal to watch - very pretty - during the evening we had Zebras and Jackals come to drink. And the one thing I was hoping for crept up on us - a white Rhino.
The next morning we did another drive and saw a huge pride of lions, countless Zebra and Kudu. We saw the lions with their kill and the cubs were so fun to watch. Etosha has such a huge presence about it and actually being able to stay in the park was amasing with the fence the only thing separating us from this wild paradise. Megan and I both loved every second of it - including the bar and the pool tooJ. These along with the Dunes are definitely the highlight so far… On the final game drive we also saw another pride with the cubs all lazing around. Onto Windhoek today for the finale of our Namibian adventure.
