Welcome to Hondurus.
We crossed theborder again without any difficulty, and honesty nothing changed in landscape at all - it was all still very green and lush. Our destination was just over the border and is our last Mayan site on the trip.
Copan Ruins aka Copan is a quaint little town that has developed simply becuase of the ruins. Its coppled streets are a little like Antigua although the streets are more like san Franciscos, with some steep hills. Granted Megan wasn't happy when we had to hike with our bags al the way to the top of one of these!
The accomodation was pretty good although we haven't had a warm shower for a couple of days!!!! Cold showers just aren't the same! The weather however had changed - again it was hot and very humid.
The highlight of the town was the great street food, market square that was very picturesque and a very cool little backpackers that really should be in Australia or Thailand more than Central America. We spent quite a bit of time here, due to the great facilities and friendly staff. Honduruans don't seem to be as hospitable as Guatamalans so far, but we hope that will change. Can you believe our best meal here was Corn Flakes with Banana (believe us - its been so long since we had cereal with milk!) it was great.
The Ruins themselfs we visited with Ang and Drew. Its actually got quite a bit to offer, including tunnels into the temples - something we have not seen before. This was very cool as we saw some great Macaws masks buried within the temples. We also got to see some local Macaws in the park, as well as some rat looking like creatures. The site itself was well worth the visit with some great coloured staircases and Mayan housing.
So we are off to Roatan tomorrow and very exited - we leave at 1am though :-(
