Well we are now on our way to New Orleans. We have just spent an amazing time in Atlanta with Emma's family so a big thank you to everyone for making it so much fun. Here is a rundown of what we got up to.
For the first few days we relaxed as we were still recovering from our busy but great time in Florida. We caught up on boring things like washing and and booking more transport and accomadation. Emma's uncle brought us a huge pumpkin so we spent ages scooping it out then carving a design onto it, we were very proud of our efforts. There are photos on this website.
When we were rested enough, we went shopping with Joy (Emma's cousin's Grandma),Joy is the best bargain hunter ever.We left at 10am and didn't get back until gone 7pm. We were shopped out but it was worth it, we all ended up buying lots of nice things really cheaply and we even managed to get some christmas presents(it's not that far away).
Then came the big one!! The night out! It was Emma's Aunite Donna's birthday weekend so we kicked it off with a night out. With everyone looking glam, mainly thanks to Donna's great hair straightners, we went to some friends of Donnas',Phil and Alison. We had a couple of drinks there as well as some cheese then we went to a restaurant call Loca Luna.Loca Luna is a tapas bar that plays salsa music later on in the evening. Emma's cousins came out and some more friends, so there were quite a few of us in the end.We had quite a few drinks there and then headed of to a club. This club was no ordinary club,it was called Bellbottoms and only played 70's,80's and early 90's music. It was fantastic everyone danced and a had a great night, the music was brilliant and everyone drank quite a bit!!! When we got back at 2.30am we decided there was only one think to do....eat more cheese!
So the next morning we had a lie in, but then we had to get busy. We were goig to a halloween party at Emma's cousin Alex's house, so we needed to get costumes. We went to a halloween shop that sold everything you could possibly need, it was great. When we were finally dressed for the party Donna took us to the house. Emma and Laura were witches and Rachel was a devil. The costumes at the party were really good, Alex was a ghostbuster, there was a banana, a clam, a redneck plus other really good onew we can't remember. There were also two dogs who were dressed up, one as a pumpkin the other as a hot dog.We left at midnight due to last night being a big night. Emma and Rachel are getting old now nd they can't hack two nights out in a row.
There was no rest for the wicked so the morning after the party we walked up Stone Mountain. It was hard work but definitly worth it, the views from the top are amazing. Stone Mountain is set in a huge park, it is a huge piece of granite that has been there for years. We came back down the mountain and then went home to get ready for dinner at Joy's house. It was Donna's birthday so Joy had cooked some proper southern food. There was so much of it, enough to feed a small army!! It was good to see everyone as all of Emma's cousins were there, even if Andrew was too hungover to eat!!
A couple of days later Alex drove us to the Lake house,it's in Alabama and is amazing. The house is right on the lake and it is huge!! As Alex had very kindly offered(wonder why) to take us to the Lake house we decided to cook him a roast dinner!! So the first stop was the super market we stocked up on everythihng we would need then came back to the house and let the fun begin. Rachel cooked some brownies and then we cooked roast dinner, we had chicken, roast potatoes, four different vegetables, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and even yorkshire puddings!! It was amazing even if we do say so ourselves. After dinner it was time to get down to business, we played poker and drank and then we danced and drank. We had all the lights off, the music up loud and a good bar!! We had a great night however we were all very tired the next morning and it didn't help that we had to leave so early to get back to Donna's. Rachel and Laura were meeting some of their family for lunch so Paul picked us up about lunchtime and drove fro about an hour to meet Rachel and Laura's relative. They went to lunch with her and Emma went to lunch with her uncle. Everyone had a good even if we all nearly fell asleep in the car on the way home ( not Paul). That evening it was Halloween Donna cooked dinner for everyone and we had a chilli. We also had quite a few trick or treaters, it was good to hand out all the sweets, we were being very generous as we had so much of it. On a sad note the pumpkin didn't survive, it had got old really quickly and died a sorry death. We still think it was something to do with the evil cat Oliver!!!
Our last day in Atlanta was spent mainly at the post office, we spent ages sorting out what we were sending home and then having to pack it into a box or boxes!! Finally it was all on it's way back to England. That evening Paul took us and Alex and Andrew (who was now recovered form his hangover) to an American football game. It was good to watch but it just goes on too long. We left at half time and went to the pub!!
We had a great time and can't wait to go back. If we run out of money we will be back!!
