Our next stop after Cleveland was Chicago. We used the Mega-bus to get there,it's the same company that we have in England, it's really cheap.
When we arrived in Chicago we again had to navigate the subway system, we are getting quite good at this. Our hostel is quite a way out of the city, it's easy to get to but takes nearly an hour by train!!The people who run the hostel know nothing!! We asked them if there were any food shops nearby, the answer was " I don't know, there could be one that way or that way"!!!?!! Also we aren't allowed in the hostel between the hours of 11am and 2pm!! We kept our bags/cases locked the whole time as there aren't keys to the rooms!!
The next day we went into the city, our first stop was the library, we can get free internet here!! We then went to Millenium park. It's a big park that has a outdoor stadium in it and a strange silver kidney bean shaped monument. The highlight are the water walls. There are two big walls a distance apart. They each have water flowing over them, but what makes them unique is that they are video walls and they show the face of someone from Chicago. Every few minutes they squirt water from their mouths. It's great.
While we were in Chicago we went on a river cruise, it took us along the river and on to Lake Michigan, it was really interesting to learn about the history of the buildings. We visited Navy Pier, they have a big ferris wheel there where you can get great views of the city. We even managed to get Rachel on it!! We also went to Lincoln Park zoo, it's huge and best of all it's free, they even had a John Deere farm park there.
We had a night out in Chicago, we went to a place called Martini Park, it was a proper bar and quite posh. We then went further into the city and went to a couple of bars. It was a good night but the drinks were quite expensive!!!
We left Chicago on the Saturday, Chicago is a great city, it's big without being too big and it's really clean. Our journey to the bus station was fun. We caught the train only to find out that they were doing work to the line so it wouldn't be doing it's usual route. We got off and didn't have clue where we were so we had to get a taxi to the Greyhound station as we nearly missed our bus!!
Two buses, two taxis rides later and a two hour stop in Cleveland and we were in a Pittsburgh hotel room!! We spent two nights in Pittsburgh, we didn't come out of the hotel as it was in the middle of nowhere. We watched some good films though!!
Next stop State College
