So up we get from a night of no sleep and head into the Tikal national park.
Tikal a famous Maya ruined city, another I hear you cry, well it is our 7th and maybe our last one?
Tikal was settled around 700 BC (thats Before Cox) and is, well massive.
In total something like 16sq.km with around 4000 structures. This included a kfc, Mcdonalds and Starbucks, which was impressive considering that it is so old (I think they called it mfc - Maya Fried Chicken)
Due to our early start we were pretty much there on our own and went straight to Temple IV which is the tallest and looks over the forest canopy and towards three other temples.
Those of you that are Star Wars fans may be aware that Tikal was the scene for the Rebel Base (just before the final Death Star battle in the original film) So of course, Dave made Emily recreate this scene but she did not have a tracking lazer type thing so had to make to with her water bottle.
The photo (Dave would argue) is a exact replica of the scene in Star Wars.
After lots of wandering around the park we headed back to Flores for some much needed sleep....the next day we have a 9 hour bus trip to Southern Guatemala....
