Tanja and Marie left today and Lior arrived! The day of the boys started. Lior is awesome, having travelled with him from Melbourne has made us quite good friends and these times in Broome would be some of the best in Australia.Broome town is really quaint, like a small country town in the UK, only much hotter. Yes I found out that humidity is an issue here, but I wasnt going to let it stop me. We decided with shannon and Frenchie to hire a 4 x 4 and go on an exploration of the Northern Beaches of Broome. Not really knowing anything bout what we were about to embark, we left early for $100 and headed North along the unsealed roads in a 4x4 that really couldnt be called that! More like a car with a 4 x 4 button. Madness. The weather was as hot as ever so having aircon was great. Oooh note to the wise a dorm room with aircon cost $5 more in Broome! Stupid I know. Anyhow we travelled these unsealed roads to see what we could find after visiting the supermarket for a picnic lunch. What we found I never expected. We visited three of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen in my life. Completely deserted, not a civilasation in sight, a pure oasis of tranquility. The pictures I have and any words I use can’t accurately depict the sheer beauty of these beaches. Crystal blue, warm ocean water, calm, not a sole in site, the beach stretched for miles in either directions with birds the only inhabitants. We swam in the crystal sea, played on the beach and generally had the most amazing day I have ever spent on a beach. Whilst in the sea small fish played around our feet. When we reached the highest point named Jackson Point, the rock formations were beautiful, mixing reds and greens, and greys all together with the beating sun on the ocean was stunning. Looking up though there was a huge storm approaching, which had literally appeared from nowhere. So we decided it was time to evacuate as the mud roads would become impassiable if we got stuck. And half way back the clouds opened and we started to travel down the road which soon became a river. Seriously we nearly skidded off the road 3 or 4 times, but luckily our french counterpart who had never off roaded before saved us with some brilliant driving.I’ll always remember that day, as one of the best adventures of my life, into the unknown, no tour guide and no clue.Broome is quickly turning into one of my favourite places on earth.
