Hi all, so I am in Melbourne at the minute and it’s been an awesome trip down.
So I left Sydney heading towards Jinabyne via Canberra on Sunday, saying goodbye to everyone once again…weird that I will never be back at 43 Pitt Street again! Well not this trip anyhow. I was a bit worried about it to be apprehensive about it but hey bit the bullet.
So the Bus, we have the United Nations, Scots, Yugoslavian, Austrian, German, English to mention just a few. Overall though it was a good group. I have made good friends with two girls, Vicki and Agnus, who I am still with in Melbourne.
So first stop Canberra, it’s a small Capital City with virtually nothing going on, but we got to go to a War Museum and Parliament House. Parliament house was fascinating; we got to see the senate and House of Representatives, something I haven’t even seen in Westminster. Good Photos! I found our ancestry as well at the war museum…W.Betts (photo online!)
From Canberra we got to stay at Jinabyne, a small Mountain town in the South of New South Wales, with some gorgeous views of the lakes around the area. I liked here, reminded me of Colorado Springs, peaceful but gorgeous. I also rained supreme at Table Tennis is one of the bars…
From here, well the next two days kind of merged into one, we stayed at a Caravan lodge…like Pippa's in Summer Bay, and a Buddhist Retreat. But the days were filled with the Southern National Parks of Victoria and NSW. My god these places are stunning, untouched beauty. Some of the places we stayed for lunch or just stopped at were just gorgeous, completely unspoilt rainforest. The retreat was very calming, but I didn’t find enlightenment before you ask…Buddhism is a great concept just certain things I couldn’t give up!!!!
We have seen Emus, Kangaroos, A Wombat, Koalas and even an Aqinda…the wildlife is just everywhere to be seen. I climbed a Sand dune in Wilson’s Promontory and it was so refreshing, the sea air and no one around me at all…really liberating. And on the way back we got hailed on…yes hailed on, on a beach in Australia during summer….weird!
Got to DJ on the bus too, on the bus which was awesome, our driver Luke was brilliant fun!
Really the only way to describe these parks is to see the photos that are online now!
So in Melbourne now with Agnus and Vicki, and really like it. We have seen a few bands play at the Esp.…as the locals call it. Walked from St Kilda to Melbourne centre which was beautiful and the weather took a turn for the better, 30 degrees tomorrow, and we have booked to see the march of the penguins, and Neighbors night, which includes Carl Kennedy’s Band and a trip to Ramsey Street itself….how cool! So lots to look forward to!
