So it was up at 4.30 to the big bad Gatwick airport, early start but well worth it with the huge breakfast in weather spoons. Yum I can still taste it now! We were very lucky with the whole XL debacle, in the end a few extra pound to upgrade to British Airways was well worth it. But really? When you look into it BA are just as s*** as XL were going to be... Now I sound like a grumpy old man but Virgin Airways are definitely the way to go, British Airways are not as comfy, the films were rubbish and the food, don't start me on the food! GRUMPY GRUMPY GRUMPY. I am only travelling Virgin and Singapore from now on, maybe Thai and Emirates too... So we set down in Tobago, and stepped off the plane to the airport and were hit with a rush of hot air. Hot air something we had obviously missed this summer in the UK. The airport is so small, and the plane dominated both terminals. Walking in, our luggage was ready for us and it was in a Taxi and off to Turtle Beach. Rex by Turtle Beach was where we were staying, and well we were so impressed especially after seeing some negative press on Trip Advisor. We were met with a Rum cocktail, and it nearly knocked me for six… The room was huge with a balcony facing the beach, the sound of the waves and the golden sand just a few seconds away. The pool is noted as the largest on the Island, and although not deep it had a pool bar and enough space for all the guests to be in all at once. The pool backed onto the beach that was a long stretch of golden sand with the Caribbean Sea lashing just metres away.We spent the first night at the hotel, chilling on the Cocktail balcony, slowly working our way through the bars resources; dinner was gorgeous - fresh King Fish, caught that morning… Retiring early to our lovely huge room, we sat on the balcony, watched the sun set just outside and sipped on our last cocktail of the night - this is a gorgeous place and I love it already. My Mr Grumpy T-shirt has definitely been left on the plane.
