So it was up early after our early night, and we decided to get our bearings and hire a car for the day to explore the Island. Great idea, I thought until I found out 2 facts - one Megan is the worst navigator in the world! I was very surprised I didn't end up in Mexico… and second the drivers in Tobago are crazy! Crazy is a slight understatement, they all are in the middle of the road most of the time, and occasionally do not actually move when you head towards them… Nice - especially with a £600 excess on the car! So we toured the Atlantic side of the Island, passing Dwight Yorke stadium, and then along the coast. I love driving the coastal routes, so many stops for virtual every site possible. We got accosted in Roxborough, when we got offered a Mango for a lift… ha, that'd work in this country for sureJ.We ate that day in a quaint little hotel on route to Charlottesville, with its own private beach. Crab sandwich - yummy. Megan started her shrimp feast here too; the sea food was just so fresh and tasted amazing. When we reached Charlottesville, unfortunately it was overcast, but you could see that this part of the island was the less commercialised and therefore the prettiest. There are few resorts up here, more villas, and no bars just little shops here and there. I think the locals like to keep it that way, and I don't blame them at all. The beach was pristine and the water crystal clear, jumping off the pier into the sea is one of my favourite things to do and this place allowed me this, feeling refreshed as I hit the warm water. Even with the cloud it is still very warm here, around 25 degrees I would say. We will definitely come back up here some other time, as we have been told that Pirates Bay was up here and it's also suppose to be gorgeous.
